Make Menuselect - nucrses error

While installing Asterisk, if you get "Install ncurses to use the menu interface! " when running make menuselect and if you already have installed ncurses and ncurses-devel using yum, then from teh Asterisk source directory run

make distclean

and then do a ./configure followed by make menuselect and it shoudl work as the make distclean cleans out the subdirectories.
